Toddler Newsletter
November, 2008
Dear Parents,
The children were happy to return to their classroom after Fall Break.
As the weather becomes colder, it will be necessary for the children to be dressed warmly for playing outdoors.
Please send your child in a warm coat with a hat and gloves or mittens. Remember to label all of your child’s outerwear with his name.
The Toddler class will be collecting bars of soap to donate to our charity. We will have a special basket for the children to put their donations in when they arrive for class. The soap drive will end on December 2. Please send only wrapped bars of soap.
We have been talking about and doing several matching works in the classroom. I have noticed that because of this experience, the children are finding it much easier to complete puzzles which match picture to picture. I hear these little voices in the classroom saying, “That’s a match!” and “I did it!” These words are truly music to my ears.
What’s new in the classroom
The “train table” has been converted to the “Lego table.” Making their Lego appearances are Tigger, Winnie the Pooh, and various forms of transportation for our stars. We have a Lego car, an airplane, and a boat.
In the Practical Life area we have a new wooden set of fruit cutting tools. The children have been slicing a pear, kiwi, orange, melon, and a banana.
Everyone is enjoying matching the fall pot holders and hanging them on hooks on the file cabinet doors.
The garden gloves have been replaced with winter gloves and mittens for the children to try on.
Our classroom is decorated for the season and the children are having fun rocking the scarecrow and arranging the pumpkins and gourds on the table centerpiece.
Magic Moment of the Month
I put two oven mitts on the shelf for the children to try on their hands. Of course, when little “Kai” put them on, they reached his shoulders. I was explaining to the children how you use the mitts to take hot things out of the oven. Kai walked over to the play kitchen, took the play pizza out of the oven, and brought it to us, balancing pizza on two hands encased in adult size oven mitts! That was pretty smart! I didn’t realize he was even listening!
We are having a wonderful time watching your children grow each and every day. Thank you for sharing them with us!
Sandy Strantz
