Child's Ages
Elementary 1 - Grade 1 to Grade 3
Elementary 2 - Grade 4 to Grade 8
Overview
The elementary classrooms at the Montessori School of Westfield
are an extension of the progress and curricula of the Children's
House. Children are still brought together in a multi-age environment,
and that same environment is mostly responsible for the learning
that takes place. The elementary faculty is there to facilitate
the learning by suggesting and teaching the appropriate methods
and materials to ensure the consistent progress of each child.
The elementary levels are concerned with age-appropriate learning
for each student, but they refuse to compromise the intentions and
teachings of Dr. Montessori and her contemporaries. It is the desire
for all in the elementary classrooms to create an environment in
which children love to learn and share their experiences with their
peers.
